Hurricane Watches Discontinued Across Florida

Early Morning Landfall Expected Near Miami

All predictions are in and it looks like Ernesto will not make landfall as the first US hurricane of 2006. Not too surprising given the unpredictability of Ernesto since forming late last week.

Biggest Concern? Rain and lots of it

Yes, even tropical storm force winds will cause damage (see our video primer on gale force winds here). The biggest concern appears to be the amount of expected rainfall. Predictions range from 5 to even 15 inches in some isolated areas as the storm tracks north.

What's Next?

It looks like the future track of the tropical storm takes it back out to the Atlantic before a Thursday landfall somewhere in South Carolina. Then it's a trek into the mainland as a tropical depression into North Carolina and points north over the weekend.
